FAQs

  • Solemaids are the patented custom insole we use, designed in Denmark and utilised by hundreds of allied health practitioners across the globe. They work via a cutting edge ‘heel suspension’ mechanism - floating your child’s heel inside their shoe.

  • Yes, they can - provided they are the same size! Please ensure you bring all of your child’s main sporting shoes/boots to the appointment, though.

  • If your child's heel pain hasn't been diagnosed as Sever's, head to the 'Education' section of our page for a simple, quick, test you can do at home. If you're still unsure, please book a call with one of our team using the button at the top of the page.

  • Traditionally, this would have been your best course of action. However, unless the podiatry clinic is one of our Solemaids certified clinics - they will not have access to Solemaids & will not be able to achieve the same incredible results. We provide a guarantee that we will eliminate your child’s Sever’s pain, or your money back - you won’t find that sort of guarantee at a podiatry (or any other allied health) practise!

  • No, we treat only Sever's Disease. This is how we have honed our specialised skills & treatment methods.

  • Your child will feel relief from their Sever's pain immediately following their treatment.

  • No, our treatment only requires one appointment to fit the Solemaids.

  • Yes, 100%. We have seen how effective our treatment is over hundreds of cases, which is why we are so confident in its success for your child.

  • Yes, you can use your private health insurance.

  • There will be an adjustment period while the foot gets used to the new insole, during which your child may experience some discomfort. Allow up to 6 weeks for the foot to completely get used to the insoles. After that period, there won't be any feelings of discomfort.

  • Yes! Your child will be able to do every single activity as normal, no need to modify or pull them out of anything.

  • Solemaids only need to be worn for a period of 6 months before they can be phased out of your child’s shoe. For the majority of children, they are able to go 6 months in their sporting shoes/boots without needing to get bigger ones! If their foot does grow substantially during that time & they go up a shoe size, they will require a larger pair of Solemaids.

  • To put it simply, it takes a long time for innovation in healthcare to be widely adopted. Our treatment, and the Solemaids insoles, is cutting edge & at the forefront of changing how Sever’s is treated. As a result, most practitioners view it with skepticism, some even with disbelief - meaning it will take a long time before it’s widely adopted.

  • No, the Solemaids do not fit in shoes along with orthotics. The treatment plan we suggest in this instance is for your child to wear Solemaids while they are doing their sport training & games, and wear their orthotics day to day. This way, both the Sever’s pain and the arch issues are getting addressed.

  • Solemaids are based on new research around Sever's. Studies now show the cause of Sever's is repeated impact & pressure going into the growth plate in the heel, causing inflammation. All other treatments are based on an old understanding of Sever's, that being it's caused by a mismatch in growth rate between the lower limb bones & ligaments - pulling on the heel area. All other treatments you would have tried are focussed on managing the pain, and trying to cushion the sore heel - whereas Solemaids float the heel inside the shoe, thereby eliminating any impact and pressure going into the heel. When you remove the impact and pressure, you remove the pain.

  • No, not at all. The Solemaids are designed with a subtle rocking element to them, allowing your child to maintain their natural foot strike as they walk & run - there are no changes to their running or walking gait.
